Throughout the years, Vychodna has had the pleasure of performing in Slovakia on many occasions, and forge many relationships with groups and choreographers along the way.
In 1990 the senior group traveled to Slovakia for the first time. Along with the Zemplin Folklore Ensemble from Toronto, they toured the country performing at several festivals and villages, including Folklórny Festival Východná, and Folklórne Slávnosti Pod Pol’anou. It was also during this trip that Vychodna pioneered what were to become long-lasting friendships with both Lucina Folklore Ensemble from Cleveland, Ohio along with two groups from Slovakia, FS Zemplín from Michalovce and FS Vranovcan from Vranov nad Toplou.
For the second trip to Slovakia In 1992, the senior group was accompanied by the junior group and performed at Maticný Svetový Festival Slovenskej Mládeže in Martin.
In 1997, fourteen members from the senior group embarked on another three week journey to Slovakia that began in Žalobín and ended in Caklov, the home of FS Vranovcan choreographer Štefan Kocák. During this tour, they also showcased their talents in Nacina Ves, Sedliská, Michalovce, Strážske, Dulovce and Martin. In Nacina Ves, Vychodna did a joint performance with FS Vranovcan, which helped provide the basis of a friendship between the two groups that lasts to this day.
In 2000, the senior group once again traveled to Slovakia for a three week tour, performing in various cities such as Sedliská, Zbudza and Nacina Ves. The group also had the time to go sightseeing, visiting Cervený Kláštor, Spišský Hrad, and the beautiful Vysoké Tatry.
Vychodna’s last trip to the heart of Europe was in 2005. Vychodna returned to perform at the Folklórny festival Východná opening night show and the Folklórne Slávnosti Pod Pol’anou, fifthteen years later since their first trip to Slovakia in 1990. Similar to past trips, Vychodna travelled across the country to places such as Terchová , Varín, Vel’ké Rovné and Cadca. Once the performances were over, the group spent time with their good friends FS Vranovcan and FS Zemplín.
